Conquering Dog Separation Anxiety: A Path to Peaceful Alone Time

Separation anxiety in dogs is a distressing condition marked by hyper-attachment and a profound panic when left alone. Symptoms include destructive behavior like chewing furniture, excessive vocalization such as barking or howling, pacing and panting, and even house soiling.

It also limits the life of the owner as it is very stressful to know your dog will be in panic when you leave the house.

From torn couch cushions to scratched doors, the aftermath of separation anxiety can be costly and frustrating for pet owners. Yet, it's crucial to recognize these actions stem from anxiety and not spite.

However, there's hope. Understanding and addressing separation anxiety is possible with patience and a structured treatment plan. My separation anxiety treatment program focuses on building a foundation of trust  that the owner will come back.  With dedication and the right approach, dogs can learn to feel secure when left alone, alleviating their separation anxiety and restoring harmony to the household.

Please read the article of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviour to better understand why.

It will explain why the dominance theory can increase fear and potentially lead to aggressive behaviour without warning signals.
